Armor Up, Gabriel!

Gabe L.- Iron Man.jpeg

Name: Gabriel

Interests: YouTube videos, bike riding, T-ball, playing with family and friends

Diagnosis: Falconi Anemia

Cap Hero: Iron Man

Lovable. Kind. Caring. Funny. These words both describe Gabriel and his Cap Hero Iron Man (AKA Tony Stark). Incidentally, in Hebrew, the name Gabriel means “God is my strong man.” Some Cap Heroes were just meant to be.

To treat his Falconi Anemia, Gabriel was given a bone marrow transplant, a procedure that replaces damaged or destroyed bone marrow with healthy bone marrow stem cells. Before transplant, you get chemotherapy with or without radiation to destroy the diseased cells and marrow. Then, healthy cells are given to you through an IV. The cells find their way into your marrow, where they make healthy red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.

Good luck, Gabriel. You don’t need an Iron Man suit to beat this thing, but we hope the cap helps.
