Name: Matti

Interests: Baseball, football, video games, guitar, running, Cubs, Gamecocks, Packers

Diagnosis: T-Cell ALL

Cap Hero: Javier Báez

In June of 2020, Matti and his family got the diagnosis – T-Cell ALL. That meant chemotherapy. According to Matti’s mom, her a fun-loving, upbeat fifteen year old was so excited to receive this cap to wear during treatment. He asked for his hat to be  autographed by Javier Báez, shortstop for the Chicago Cubs. The memento means so much to Matti because Javier signed it for a cancer organization. It’s nice when it turns out that your sports heroes are good people as well as good athletes.

Javier’s nickname is “El Mago” – Spanish for “The Magician”). We hope the cap he signed for Matti works a little magic as well.

“Matti received his hat while getting chemo. This made the day more enjoyable rather than the normal, hard, tiring clinic day. ” – Matti’s Mom
