Name: Carter

Interests: Playing Fortnite, hunting Pokemon, swimming, watching Marvel movies

Diagnosis: Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma

Cap Hero: Thor

When you’re a god named Thor from Asgard, a hammer can fix everything. When you’re a boy named Carter from Texas, your hammer is chemotherapy. And it doesn’t hurt to have a friend who is a super hero.

Carter, who was diagnosed with a soft tissue tumor in July of 2018, is a big fan of Marvel movies. Throughout treatment, he has worn his cap proudly, not only because it covers his bald head but because he likes showing his friends that it’s been signed by Thor, his favorite super hero.

In the 2011 movie Thor, the thunder god tells his adversaries, “You’re big. I’ve fought bigger.” Carter’s fighting a big one now but he’s not alone: he has his family, his friends, his medical team, and Thor right there with him.

“Thank you for brightening Carter’s day.” – Carter’s mom
